I forgot to mention that they tied my right toe with wire I believe it was attached to an instrument that was measuring my heartbeats. And maybe they placed other wires on my body, I don't remember because I've been living in a state of terror

Mentre in Inghilterra all'indomani del rilascio di Shaker Aamer politici e stampa si interrogano sul da farsi circa quanto dichiarato dallo stesso nel corso degli anni sulla presenza nella stanza in cui venne torturato di agenti dell'MI6, anche da noi sarebbe lecito porsi qualche domanda.

La doppia versione fornita da Mohammed Reda a proposito di torture nella base italiana si spiega con il fatto che trattasi di racconto de relato ma soprattutto il resoconto di Abu Omar non poteva che essere confuso vista la vicenda di cui è stato vittima.
Con tutta probabilità ad Aviano non fu torturato, non sel senso stretto almeno, perchè non ce n'era bisogno. Gli italiani avevano già un dossier sull'egiziano ed era interesse americano farlo uscire al più presto dall'Italia. Era indispensabile prelevarlo e farlo arrivare sano e salvo.
La copertura legale ideata da Rizzo evidentemente non prevedeva l'omicidio così come per le scorribande pachistane di Jonathan Banks e dei suoi droni.
La salute di Abu Omar doveva essere comunque preoccupazione primaria del governo italiano e del Sismi. Quindi anche se come sembra dal racconto dello stesso, il passaggio ad Aviano si svolse in uno scenario da toccata e fuga, ci doveva per forza di cose essere un rappresentante italiano nella fase di transito e partenza ad assicurarsi che nulla andasse storto e che al di là di quella di rapimento non potessero essere avanzate ulteriori accuse.
Non poteva di certo trattarsi della manovalanza usata per caricare Abu Omar sul furgone o di chi fornì a Lady le schede telefoniche. Tutto quello che accadde su territorio italiano prima del volo verso la Germania era in fondo poca cosa. Si sarebbe potuto giustificare in qualche modo.
Ma una volta volato via bisognava circoscrivere legalmente l'intera operazione nell'interesse dei due fronti. Americano ed italiano.

Stando alla logica quindi e alle possibili ricostruzioni a dispetto del segreto di stato, il dottor Mancini che si occupò dell'organizzazione e che rappresentava il punto di contatto tra i suoi superiori e lo snatch team avrebbe dovuto essere lì a controllare. Difficile immaginare che abbia mandato qualcuno in sua vece. Fu così ?
