The attacks on Abqaiq and Khurais with Iranian weapons was not only an assault on the Kingdom, but an attempt to target the world economy and energy supplies to international markets.

This cowardly act of aggression is an extension of the Iranian regime's hostile and outlawed behavior. The international community must shoulder its responsibilities and take a firm stance towards Iran's criminal behavior.
Complacency with the Iranian regime will only encourage it to commit more acts of terrorism and sabotage in our region and around the world.

Given Zarif’s comments today, about an act of “all-out war,” does that change the calculation, and do you think there’s an opportunity for some sort of peaceful resolution to this?

Adesso nessuno vuole arrivare ad una all out war che in effetti al momento risulta poco utile.
Se ci fosse stata una risposta militare immediata in occasione dell'abbattimento del drone americano a Giugno, soluzione alla quale sarebbe stata favorevole anche la signora Haspel, oggi non ci sarebbe tanta incertezza sul modo con il quale uscire da questa situazione senza perdere la faccia e piazzando paletti per il futuro.

Update

Un editoriale su Okaz avvalora l'impressione che i sauditi sono alla ricerca di conferme circa la solidità delle alleanze (non solo con gli americani ma anche in regione) piuttosto che dell'ennesima schermaglia con l'Iran. Se queste non dovessero arrivare, ci sarebbe un turning point insidioso per il quadro medio-orientale e non solo.
