A doctor at the hospital confirmed to DER SPIEGEL that a high-ranking Syrian was hospitalized at that time. Lo scorso mese giornalisti e attivisti siriani raccontavano di un Jamel Hassan agonizzante che supplicava le autorità libanesi di consegnarlo al tribunale internazionale.
In primavera erano circolate diverse sue immagini al fronte. Era il segnale, secondo i conoscitori delle stanze segrete, che Assad ormai aveva scaricato il suo uomo.
E' possibile che non sia stato consegnato alle autorità competenti non tanto per evitare possibili scontri con il regime. Ma per inserirlo in qualche pacchetto di trattative.
