Disgraceful

As a result, prominent Libyan commentators are stating that a deal could be arranged whereby Hifter would hand control of the oil ports back to the real NOC in exchange for the HCS finally approving Shukri as Kabir’s replacement. Even if this brilliant pawn sacrifice is not the initial intention for Hifter’s rather haphazard, completely illegal and utterly immoral move, it could be a graceful end to the crisis and forestall further violence.

The West must now use its diplomatic wiles to provide Hifter, the GNA, HCS and the NOC a face-saving way out of this impasse: have them facilitate Kabir’s replacement by Shukri and simultaneously request an international financial commission to safeguard Libya’s finances.

Marshal Haftar, allo stesso modo di Putin, riesce a mettere in evidenza l'ipocrisia e gli standard doppi occidentali. Se il suo gesto è immorale, altrettanto lo sono le azioni poste in essere  dalle istituzioni di Tripoli legittimate e sostenute dagli organismi internazionali.
Una trattativa siffatta, per uscire dall'impasse del momento, non farebbe altro che avvalorare le sue tesi e convinzioni, soprattutto rispetto alla percezione generale che si ha in Libia a proposito del modo di gestire la situazione da parte degli interlocutori stranieri.
Con Marshal Haftar bisogna trattare alla pari.
Farlo uscire dalla logica del do ut des di stampo ricattatorio.
Ciò servirebbe anche a dare un senso ad un contesto elettorale che per il momento sembra non avere logica.
