This is to inform the general public that security agencies in close coordination with immigration officials have been investigating two foreign nationals working with a leading mobile telecom company over their engagements in acts which compromise National Security. The two foreign nationals include ; Olivier Prentout, a French national and Annie Tabura, a Rwandan national. We want to commend the Directorate of immigration and citizenship control for strengthening the screening procedures at all border points. We strongly believe that the deportation of the two foreigners, who were using their employment as tools to achieve their ill motives, has enabled us disrupt their intended plans of compromising our national security. We urge members of the public to remain alert and continue helping the police and it’s sister security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity. MTN Group comments on deportation of MTN Uganda executives 23/01/2019 MTN Group comments on deportation of MTN Uganda executives Johannesburg – MTN confirms that three senior managers have been deported from Uganda. MTN Uganda has not been officially notified of the grounds for these arrests and deportations and is trying to establish the precise reasons for the deportations. We are understandably concerned about these developments and the wellbeing of all our employees. MTN Uganda is fully committed to respecting and operating within the laws of the country. Notes to the editor: On Saturday, 19 January 2019, the MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer, Olivier Prentout, was arrested by police at Entebbe airport upon arrival from a business trip abroad. On the morning of Monday 21 January 2019, the MTN Uganda Head of Sales and Distribution, Annie Bilenge Tabura, was arrested by unidentified security personnel upon arrival at the MTN headquarter offices, in Kololo, Kampala. Subsequently, both Mr Prentout and Mrs Bilenge have been deported from Uganda to their home countries, France and Rwanda respectively.
