Se mai Assad verrà processato per crimini di guerra, difficilmente i suoi uomini lo seguiranno. I generali Daboul e Darwish erano tra i maggiori responsabili delle atrocità perpetrate dal regime. Così stando le cose, verranno altri attacchi letali. Non si è trattato di un gesto simbolico rivolto a Ginevra ma della volontà, dopo avere ripulito la scena dai gruppetti qaedisti dediti a vendette ed attacchi contro la popolazione, di continuare a lottare per liberare la Siria dalla dittatura.
Quello che De Mistura e i suoi protettori vogliono invece, non è affatto chiaro.
In uno scenario del genere, Assad continuerà a rifiutare la soluzione politica con la scusa del terrorismo. E per essere più convincente metterà in scena complotti e attentati in Occidente da attribuire ad Hayat Tahrir. Il generale Votel l'aveva detto sin dall'inizio. Questa guerra durerà molto tempo. Trump alla casa bianca è il suo alleato migliore perchè punta tutto su quella che lui definisce lotta al terrorismo e che è piuttosto propaganda pura. A questo punto chi ci rimette è l'Europa che subirà il contraccolpo dei flussi migratori e degli attentati.
