Le ragioni di James

We first became aware of him in 2013, while he was working as a security guard at a local courthouse.
He made inflammatory and contradictory statements about terrorism that raised concern with his coworkers, and claimed family connections to Al Qaeda.
He then said he was a member of Hezbollah, which is a Shiite terrorist organization that is ideologically opposed to Al Qaeda, a Sunni terrorist organization.
We interviewed him twice, and he admitted to making statements about the terrorist organizations,but he said he did it in anger because he thought his coworkers were discriminating against him.
Second investigation came about in an indirect way in 2014...

...investigating a Florida man who had blown himself up on behalf of Al Qaeda in Syria....the same mosque as Mateen, the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce.
According to one confidential source Mateen had mentioned the videos of the extremist Islamic preacher Anwar al-Awlaki...but after marriage he was no longer concerned.
During his call to 911 he said he was doing this for the leader of ISIL, who he claimed allegiance to. But he also mentioned the Boston Marathon bombers, who were inspired by Al Qaeda, and Abu-Salha, who blew himself up for al Nusra. Nusra and ISIS are fighting each other in Syria. There is no indication  of what group he supported.

There is confusion about his motives. 

So far, we see no indication that this was a plot directed from outside the United States and we see no indication that he was part of any kind of network. ...highly confident that this killer was radicalized at least in part through the Internet .

E' come se, dopo aver passato mesi a leggere testate giornalistiche di centro-destra (nemmeno di destra), a guardare talk di un certo tipo che hanno l'abitudine di mettere in cattiva luce le minoranze, a discutere sulle bacheche di noti personaggi politici e opinion maker (specie quelli naturalizzati), un neofascista qualsiasi in Italia un giorno decidesse di dare fuoco ad una moschea.
E' inutile stare a chiedersi quale sia stata la causa scatenante o a puntare il dito contro le forze dell'ordine.
Alla fine siamo in presenza di un cocktail pronto ad esplodere in qualsiasi momento.
Quello che la popolazione stenta a comprendere, e i governi nemmeno provano a spiegare, è che la presente ondata terroristica non è molto differente dalle altre, se non nella straordinaria virulenza e per come riesce ad adattarsi e a nutrirsi delle criticità pre-esistenti.
Nel caso americano, questioni irrisolte come la violenza e l'abuso delle armi, la finta integrazione, l'intolleranza in generale e l'omofobia, l'isolamento, si sono fuse in maniera formidabile, anche o soprattutto grazie alla piattaforma virtuale, all'odio predicato da Daesh.
Ci sono centinaia di soggetti a rischio in America. Se venisse aperta una indagine per ognuno di questi o se la maggior parte venisse portata a compimento, sarebbe necessario un budget stratosferico per sostenere l'attività di forze dell'ordine ed intelligence.
Pare evidente come, nel caso delle indagini che hanno messo sotto la lente di ingrandimento l'attentatore di Orlando, a fronte degli elementi raccolti, non fosse necessario andare oltre la fase preliminare.
Magari lo si sarebbe potuto segnalare ad una struttura sanitaria o ai servizi sociali, ma forse non vi sono norme stringenti in proposito.
L'unica cosa che si può fare a scopo preventivo, è quello di spiegare tutto ciò ai cittadini, in modo che se si accorgono di comportamenti strani o irregolari che caratterizzano qualche loro collega sul luogo di lavoro o un parente, possono segnalarlo.
