The ministry in a statement said the two talked about preparations for the extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's executive committee to discuss the consequences of the desecration. The meeting will be held in Jeddah on Sunday.

In realtà nessun riferimento specifico al tema dell'islamofobia, che sarebbe stato discusso tra i due ministri secondo la stampa turca, è presente su siti e profili social dei ministeri turco e saudita.

Il superamento della retorica della condanna del gesto da parte dei sauditi, in favore di una condanna chiara dell'islamofobia praticata da alcuni governi sotto il vessillo della libertà di espressione, non solo rafforzerebbe la posizione turca su alcune questioni divisive in ambito NATO e Unione Europea. 

Potrebbe determinare un cambio di passo nella gestione del soft power esercitato in particolare sul suolo europeo dai governi arabi.

Non solo moschee, squadre di calcio e affari, ma un vero e proprio ingresso negli affari interni attraverso la politica. 

Il che richiederebbe ai turchi, uno sforzo verso un esercizio della diplomazia di tipo meno ricattatorio e più incisivo.
