I didn't see that interview I'm afraid ...I can't get into details of an individual case...Once a terrorist always a terrorist? ...for me is just taking the right decision with the information you are presented...I would say this, that when someone leaves the UK, you're full of hate for the UK and it goes out somewhere in this area Syria, let's say to kill innocent people that it's very hard to gather intelligence that I think people can understand why it would have been hard for the UK authorities to gather evidence that might be necessary for a court. So you have to use the tools that you have in the box. I'm not pretending they're perfect in any way but you have to use the tools that are available to you as the minister to protect the british people ...and you have to listen to the experts especially world class intelligence agencies the best in the world with the information that they've got ...but we have allowed hundreds back to the UK...but we have acknowledge she's threated as a special case...no, not the case at all, there are over an hundred, it's a public number, that were stripped off their citizenship as last resort to protect the UK...no one's left stateless because it will be against international law ...Bangladesh can say what it likes, we follow the law. ...false denials? you certainly haven't seen what I saw. ...national security risk? ...if you did know what I knew, because you are sensible-responsible people you would have made exactly the same decision. so you would name names ? Would you give intelligence information as to the organization that you were in contact with, and although it's been scattered, many of these people are still around and are still fighting, you would you would give detailed information about ISIS as you experienced it 

I will explain to the governments how these people work and how they persuade people into doing things like, how they take advantage of people and how they persuade people to do things what to look out for and what social problems that they need to focus on in order to fight you know people becoming radicalized online. Begum

La signora Begum ha risposto alla domanda senza mostrare incertezze o tentennamenti. 

Nei giorni successivi è giunta notizia dal campo, che a telecamere spente avrebbe detto che non ha intenzione di fare nomi.

E' possibile che abbia paura di ritorsioni contro la famiglia. Oppure aderisce ad una interpretazione dei detti del Profeta, circa il segreto e il fare del male ad un fratello, che lascia poco spazio alla collaborazione di un certo tipo con il governo di un Paese non considerato Dar al Islam o anche non ostile ai musulmani.

Il meccanismo di grooming messo in atto da Daesh prevede una fase iniziale durante la quale viene sostenuta la crisi identitaria della seconda generazione o del convertito attraverso il sentimento di contrapposizione alla società nella quale sono cresciuti e alla famiglia che si è adattata alla vita in Europa. Nella seconda fase viene introdotto il fattore violenza legato all'ideologia che combatte ingiustizia e oppressione subite dai musulmani sia in Occidente che in territori di guerra.

E' possibile che come la ragazza afferma, i reclutatori in rete abbiano cercato di sminuire la valenza degli attentati o addirittura li abbiano attribuiti ad altri gruppi. L'elemento violenza rimane centrale alla narrazione di Daesh per spingere le vittime a partire o a compiere attentati. E d'altra parte la signora Begum in passato, per spiegare le ragioni di Daesh e quindi quelle della propria adesione, aveva ammesso di avere compreso che c'era un prezzo da pagare per raggiungere quello che lei oggi definisce paradiso islamico.

Il prodotto del lavoro d'intelligence, unito ad analisi e valutazioni di esperti, raramente approda in tribunale. Il che non significa che il materiale raccolto non consente di giungere a conclusioni valide. In questo caso ha permesso di tracciare un profilo, di stabilirne le mosse in un determinato contesto e di prevedere mosse future anche in contesti diversi.

E' difficile che la signora Begum, se le fosse concesso come da richiesta, si possa ritrovare in un'aula di tribunale di fronte ad una persona che sostiene di averla vista cucire il vestito di un attentatore suicida in modo tale da conservare gli esplosivi nelle pieghe. L'elaborazione delle informazioni che hanno contribuito a ricostruire quel frangente ha comunque una base solida e incontrovertibile.

Queste vicende si snodano su piani collegati tra loro ma distinti : giudiziario, sicurezza nazionale, etico-morale. Anche fossero sincere le intenzioni della ragazza, il suo ritorno in Inghilterra metterebbe a rischio sia la sicurezza che la tenuta democratica del Paese.
