Missing miss

Publish Date 05.07.2023 Elizabeth Tsurkov is an Israeli-Russian dual citizen who has been missing in Iraq for several months and is being held by the Shiite militia Kataib Hezbollah. Elizabeth Tsurkov is still alive and we hold Iraq responsible for her safety and well-being. She is an academic who visited Iraq on her Russian passport, at her own initiative pursuant to work on her doctorate and academic research on behalf of Princeton University in the US. The matter is being handled by the relevant parties in the State of Israel out of concern for Elizabeth Tsurkov's security and well-being. Prime Minister's Office 

Mi ricordo che all'ennesima lite su Twitter, la coprii di insulti e mi bloccò.

Era un momento importante per Nusra, non solo perché riusciva a resistere al regime anche grazie al supporto aereo fornito dal governo israeliano, ma perché iniziava ad intraprendere i primi passi verso l'istituzionalizzazione.

Lei se ne andava in giro alla ricerca di contatti tra i gruppi jihadisti. Li intervistava. Li metteva l'uno contro l'altro al momento opportuno. Il suo obiettivo era quasi sempre Sheikh Al Joulani.

Se uno fa pappa e ciccia con certa gente, e addirittura li incontra nei suoi giri per il medio-oriente, inevitabilmente si mette nei guai.

Nessuno ha mai creduto alla storia della giovane e ardente studiosa. I suoi passaporti rimangono un mistero.

Certo è che, se si mobilita pubblicamente l'ufficio del primo ministro, è difficile credere che i suoi spostamenti siano stati pianificati su iniziativa personale.

Se Al Fateh potesse, la salverebbe. E' un uomo generoso.

Complicating matters is the fact that Liz is an outspoken critic of all three of the major likely players involved in negotiating her release: Israel, Iran and Russia. All of us feel that the United States needs to be involved in some way in helping Liz. She is not a U.S. national, and her disappearance did not trigger the sort of aggressive U.S. reaction that an American’s might. But Liz is very much a part of America. She works with a Washington think tank, writes for an American magazine and studies at Princeton University. She deserves America’s every effort to bring her to safety. newlinesmag

Non la seguo da anni.

Ricordo però, che scriveva cose orribili su tutto e tutti pur di darsi le arie da esperta o da analista. Da guru delle strategie per il medio-oriente. Che non è esattamente l'essenza dello spirito americano.

Aveva degli obiettivi ben precisi come tutti quelli che si muovono sotto l'ala protettrice di fondazioni, think tank e pubblicazioni di geopolitica. Che la aiutino loro adesso.
